영원한 말씀

마태복음 16장1-12절

바리새인과 사두개인들이 와서 예수를 시험하여 하늘로부터 오는 표적 보이기를 청하니
예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 너희가 저녁에 하늘이 붉으면 날이 좋겠다 하고
아침에 하늘이 붉고 흐리면 오늘은 날이 궂겠다 하나니 너희가 날씨는 분별할 줄 알면서 시대의 표적은 분별할 수 없느냐
악하고 음란한 세대가 표적을 구하나 요나의 표적 밖에는 보여줄 표적이 없느니라 하시고 그들을 떠나 가시니라
제자들이 건너편으로 갈새 떡 가져가기를 잊었더니
예수께서 이르시되 삼가 바리새인과 사두개인들의 누룩을 주의하라 하시니
제자들이 서로 논의하여 이르되 우리가 떡을 가져오지 아니하였도다 하거늘
예수께서 아시고 이르시되 믿음이 작은 자들아 어찌 떡이 없으므로 서로 논의하느냐
너희가 아직도 깨닫지 못하느냐 떡 다섯 개로 오천 명을 먹이고 주운 것이 몇 바구니며
떡 일곱 개로 사천 명을 먹이고 주운 것이 몇 광주리였는지를 기억하지 못하느냐
어찌 내 말한 것이 떡에 관함이 아닌 줄을 깨닫지 못하느냐 오직 바리새인과 사두개인들의 누룩을 주의하라 하시니
그제서야 제자들이 떡의 누룩이 아니요 바리새인과 사두개인들의 교훈을 삼가라고 말씀하신 줄을 깨달으니라

요한복음 3장2절 말씀에
"그가 밤에 예수께 와서 이르되 랍비여 우리가 당신은 하나님께로부터 오신 선생인 줄 아나이다 하나님이 함께 하시지 아니하시면 당신이 행하시는 이 표적을 아무도 할 수 없음이니이다"
요한복음 12장47절 말씀에
"사람이 내 말을 듣고 지키지 아니할지라도 내가 그를 심판하지 아니하노라 내가 온 것은 세상을 심판하려 함이 아니요 세상을 구원하려 함이로라"
요한일서 3장8절 말씀에
"죄를 짓는 자는 마귀에게 속하나니 마귀는 처음부터 범죄함이라 하나님의 아들이 나타나신 것은 마귀의 일을 멸하려 하심이라"

바리새인과 사두개인은 신앙적인 동질성은 그리 많지 않았다. 바리새인들은 율법을 절대적인 가치로 여기나 사두개인들은 그들의 특권인 성전 임무를 중요하게 여겼다. 그들의 공통점은 유대사회를 이끌어가는 주류를 형성하고 있었다는 정도이다. 오늘 두 부류의 사람들이 예수에게 같이 와서 예수님을 시험하였다. 그들이 예수에 관하여 들은 놀라운 기적 외에 하늘로부터 직접 받은 표적을 보여주기를 원했던 것이다. 예수님은 그들의 의도를 알아차렸다.

사람들의 지혜와 지식은 이미 내일 날씨를 예측할 정도로 높았다. 예수님이 행한 치유와 가르침과 경악할 만한 능력은 사람들에게 널리 알려졌다. 그럼에도 그들은 예수님께 더 확실하고 분명한 증거를 보여달라고 했다.
예수님은 그들을 물리치면서 선지자 요나의 기적을 말씀하셨다. 그것은 예수님이 앞으로 행하시고 사람들에게 보여줄 표적이 될 것이다.

예수님은 그 세대를 악하고 음란한 세대라고 하셨다. 예수님이 행하신 일들을 보고도 의심하며 믿지 않는 것은 악한 생각이다. 또한 순수하지 못한 의도를 갖고 자신의 더러운 생각들로 예수님을 바라보는 것은 음란한 생각이다. 성경에서는 하나님 외에 다른 것들을 섬기는 것은 모두 음란함이라고 정의한다. 예수님을 바로 보지 못함은 그들의 생각이 음란함으로 가득 찼기 때문이다.

그 당시에 모두가 예수를 못 알아본 것은 아니었다. 예수님이 행하시는 표적을 보고 많은 사람들은 그가 하나님과 함께 한다는 것을 깨달았던 것이다. 예수님이 말씀하신 시대의 표적은 그것을 말함이고 자신도 하나님이 인자(the Son of man)로 세상에 왔다고 명확하게 말씀하셨다. 그것은 세상에 있는 마귀의 권세를 꺾기 위함이었다.

이제 예수님 일행은 갈릴리 호수를 건너 가려고 한다. 이때 제자들은 그들이 떡을 가져오는 것을 잊었음을 알아 차렸다. 그들이 걱정하고 있을 때 예수님은 그들에게 바리새인과 사두개인들의 누룩을 주의하라고 말씀하셨다.
그들은 예수님께서 떡에 넣는 누룩을 말씀하시는 것으로 생각하였다. 예수님은 매일 먹을 떡에 집착하는 제자들을 나무라셨다. 예수님이 행하신 두번의 기적을 상기시킨 것이다. 들에서 떡 다섯 개와 일곱 개로 많은 사람들을 배불리 먹인 일이었다. 제자들이 예수님을 전적으로 믿었다면 결코 떡이 없음으로 걱정을 해서는 안되는 것이었다.
예수님은 결코 떡에 관해 말씀하시지 않으셨다. 제자들에게 바리새인과 사두개인들의 영향력을 말씀하신 것이다.

적은 누룩은 그것이 밀가루 덩어리에 넣어지면 그것을 조용히 완전하게 부풀린다. 결코 나쁜 작용은 아니다. 그러나 예수님이 말씀하신 바리새인과 사두개인들의 영향력은 사람들에게 피할 수 없는 영향력을 끼친다. 그것이 악하고 그릇된 가르침이라면 문제는 심각해진다.
예수님은 자신에게 하늘로부터 받은 표적을 요구한 바리새인과 사두개인들을 가리키고 있는 것이다. 그들은 지금 예수를 믿지 않으려고 필사적이다. 예수님이 행한 많은 일들에서 그들의 기준을 벗어나는 일들을 찾으려고 모든 힘을 쏟는다. 예수님은 그런 사람들을 악하고 음란하며 위선적이라고 하셨다.
예수님은 그들의 교훈이 제자들을 서서히 오염시키고 변질시킬 것을 걱정하여 주의하라고 하신 것이다. 그것은 또한 세상에서도 하나님의 인간을 향한 진정한 뜻을 서서히 왜곡시키는 누룩으로 작용할 것이다.

이제 예수님은 세상을 결코 구원하지 못할 유대 지도자들의 누룩을 경계하시고 하나님께서 자신을 세상에 보내신 참다운 뜻을 분별하라고 말씀하신다.

The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven. He replied, "When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red, and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast. You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah." Jesus then left them and went away. When they went across the lake, the disciples forgot to take bread. "Be careful," Jesus said to them. "Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees." They discussed this among themselves and said, "It is because we didnt bring any bread." Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked, "You of little faith, why are you taking among yourselves about having no bread? Do you still not understand? Dont you remember he five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered? Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered? How is it you dont understand that I was not talking to you about bread? But be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees." Then they understood that he was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sugn from heaven. He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for sky is trd and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern this signs of the times? A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed. And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread. Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread. Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread? Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
